PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Looking to hire an Analyst - Procurement based in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be an outgoing, self-motivated individual with the ability to demonstrate leadership and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operating environment of a world-class railroad. This position will be responsible for data analysis, inventory planning, procurement/replenishment, vendor follow up and maintaining master data. To be qualified for this role, the candidate will be an experienced individual with both excellent business analysis capabilities as well as a sound knowledge of standard procurement procedures and practices.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze demand and plan material for maintenance and projects;
  • Plan and issue purchase orders for materials and equipment to support planned and unplanned maintenance, program and project requirements; while optimizing inventory carrying costs;
  • Maintain SAP planning and procurement parameters to optimize procurement process and reduce inventory;
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure an understanding of their requirements, manage expectations and deliver right material, at the right time, at the right place;
  • Participate in definition, stabilization and forward visibility of customer work plans to reduce expediting, maximize visibility and optimize inventory;
  • Monitor vendor performance, initiate action to correct supply deficiencies and escalate repeat problems to higher levels;
  • Provide input to the sourcing teams to identify alternative supply sources and evaluate the most cost effective and efficient means of acquiring/providing goods to users based on their requirements, logistical considerations and total cost;
  • Identify savings opportunities and help develop strategies to realize these savings through the application of procurement best practice processes;
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies working with Accounts Payable, Suppliers and customers to ensure timely goods receipt and payment;
  • Analyze large data sets effectively, identify process improvement solutions, formulate recommendations, and influence decisions.
  • Demonstrate a deep category expertise for categories under management, including a detailed knowledge of the supply base, best practice sourcing strategies, and project-specific service level agreements.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management or other related disciplines;
  • Relevant supply chain / procurement / sourcing experience;
  • Proficiency with SAP, MS Excel and other relevant computer applications;
  • Data analysis skills with the ability to gather, analyze and disseminate information;
  • Must be able to make decisions using independent judgment in a fast-paced environment;
  • Prior continuous improvement experience is preferred;
  • Capable of working collaboratively with diverse organizational groups under limited supervision;
  • Relevant Supply Chain certifications or other education would be an asset;
  • Positive and enthusiastic work ethic and attitude.

Management Conductor Program:
