PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

This role is responsible for providing an operational level of support, design, and implementation of SAP environment components including the Operating System, TMS, and Database systems. The reliability of the environment is paramount in the day-to-day operation of the SAP System Landscape.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Install, configure, maintain, upgrade system solutions, Service Packs and Kernel Upgrades;
  • Promote application changes using the Transport Management System;
  • Daily monitoring of System Performance;
  • Daily monitoring and investigation of the System Log for unusual activities;
  • Database monitoring for usage capacity and performance;
  • Production job monitoring for errors;
  • Ensure daily backups are successfully completed;
  • Application of Support Packages as agreed to by the organization’s business stakeholders;
  • Client copies and/or refreshes as agreed to by the organization’s business stakeholders;
  • Application of OSS Notes for problem resolution with SAP Systems;
  • Troubleshooting analysis of application problems within the Functional and Development streams;
  • Application of Database upgrades;
  • Windows Systems Administration, including systems installation and configuration, troubleshooting, configuration and management of printing systems, configuration and management of mail systems, security management, planning and installation of third party software, backups and restores;
  • Implement, maintain and upgrade SAP ECC, BI, XI/PI, CUA, Portal, Solutions Manager and related third party software;
  • Comply with CP processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Quality Assurance, to ensure attainment if service level agreements within the SAP environments;
  • Apply SAP system fixes (HotFixes, Patches);
  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of systems configuration and operational processes;
  • Organize and lead SAP technical team members with sustainment and project deliverables, focusing  on quality, productivity, and consistency;
  • Provide technical leadership and a framework for planning, communications, reporting, and procedural activity;
  • Work with SAP solution architects to identify technical business requirements, and controlling technical scope.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Science, Commerce/Business Administration or equivalent practical experience;
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience Basis support;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Understanding of SAP hardware and software;
  • Thorough understanding of SAP best practices with respect to the technical landscape and the practical application into a production IT systems environment;
  • Solid understanding of SAP, TMS, and Windows platforms;
  • Working knowledge of network, storage, server hardware technology, and desktop technology;
  • Able to actively pursue and gain knowledge of future SAP technologies;
  • Able to manage relationships with internal and external IT service providers;
  • Able to manage client / customer relationships
