PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Manager Tunnel Infrastructure is responsible for the operations and maintenance activities that will ensure full reliability of the ventilation, train control, communication and electrical systems through Rogers Pass.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance tasks associated with the Rogers Pass tunnel systems and 34.5kV power transmission line from Revelstoke to Rogers Pass;
  • Assist in developing and implementing, preventative maintenance programs, multi-year capital improvement projects to ensure the continued reliable operation of the systems;

           

Tunnel systems include:

  • PLC’s,
  • Systems control IP based Networks and servers,
  • Distributive Control Systems,
  • 4160V and 600V switchgear and distribution,
  • Signal power lines (7200 VAC and below)
  • 34.5kV transmission /distribution line, substations and switchgear,
  • Standby generators (remote start and load break disconnects),
  • 2250HP fans and drive electronics (VFD’s),
  • Gates, cables and winches (remote and motor control),
  • Tunnel lighting,
  • System Dampeners, Tunnel doors, and associated SCADA,
  • Communications systems (SCADA, corporate network, and leaky coax based transmission)
  • Signal systems (electronic track circuits, wayside signals and equipment rooms) and interface to tunnel control, and
  • Cameras.
  • Responsible for multiple indirect reports including S&C Technicians and will be responsible for supervision of various internal and external contractors required to maintain specialized systems equipment.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Electrical Engineering;
  • Electrical Facility Management;
  • Ability to acquire a P.Eng. in Electrical Engineering;
  • Previous experience with railway signaling is required;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, establishing and maintaining working relationships with a cross-functional team;
  • Organizational and time-management skills;
  • Experience in complex control systems and interfaces to power and network control,
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings;
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs or equivalent;
  • Must be able to work irregular hours as needed to ensure continued operation of tunnel systems;
  • On call 24/7.

Management Conductor Program:
