The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) is responsible for stewardship of the province’s Crown land and natural resources. Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the ministry; makes, supports and advises on stewardship decisions for BC’s land and resources; and delivers services to provide environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits for all British Columbians.
Resolving resource issues and enhancing certainty for environmental and economic goals requires exploring a variety of strategic approaches and opportunities. These resource initiatives are important to advance reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and sustain important ecosystems and processes. Through exploration of innovative and strategic approaches to managing natural resources, that uses socio-economic analyses as well as assessment and monitoring of the condition of natural resource values, the province can provide direction for forestry, energy development, ecosystem protection, recreation activities and other resource use decisions.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Degree in a related professional field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association, and 5 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
• Demonstrated recent and relevant experience managing technical and/or professional staff in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment
• Demonstrated experience in a multiple stakeholders and partners environment understanding perspectives, conflicts and facilitating / developing solutions.
• Experience related to First Nations Consultation, collaboration and relationship building.
• Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license
• May require the operation of a variety of equipment such as all terrain / off road vehicles.
