The opportunity

Our Cybersecurity Office (CSO) team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta to support the Information Services department.

We are seeking an energetic and results-oriented Cybersecurity Analyst who is beginning to build their knowledge and experience in networking and developing, risk management, compliance, operations, architecture and/or cybersecurity. In collaboration with CSO team members and business partners you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and resiliency of digital operations at TC Energy. You have the proven skills, competencies and capacity to help build our North America Security Operations Centre that is aligned with our CSO program.

What you’ll do

  • Actively participate in the Incident Response and Investigation processes, which include but are not limited to:
    • Log collection, incident and threat detection
    • Evidence collection, threat and risk management
    • Reviewing security related events, assessing severity, criticality and priority
    • Monitoring and reporting based on TC Energy SLAs with an emphasis on quality and accuracy
  • Work closely with multiple teams to ensure the resiliency and safety of operations among TC Energy digital assets
  • Assist with the sustainment of the cybersecurity technologies being used to protect TC Energy digital assets
  • Collaborate with the Manager, other senior security team members, CIO teams and business units on all areas related to cyber security and risk
  • Conduct research to maintain and expand knowledge on the latest cyber security technologies and standards, as well as the threat and vulnerability landscape
  • Other tasks and projects as required

* This position will require the candidate to provide 24-hour support on a rotational on-call schedule

* This role may require travel across borders with a requirement of a valid passport or visa equivalent

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Computer Engineering or a technical diploma in a related discipline is a requirement
  • A range of 1-4 years of related IT analytical experience is required
  • Prior experience (working or internship) in software development, server administration, network administration, cloud management, or other system sustainment activities
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving and communications skills are important for success in this role
  • Energetic individual who is a self-starter, has a willingness to help the team and an ability to learn and adapt quickly

Preferred Qualifications

  • A good understanding and working knowledge of the following is considered an asset:
    • Server platforms (Linux, UNIX, Windows, etc.)
    • Relevant networking experience (TCP/IP Stack, DNS)
    • C/C++, .NET, Java, PowerShell, Bash, Python, Pearl or other programming language
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies such as Security Information and Event Monitoring systems (SIEM), Network and Host Intrusion Prevention and Detection systems, and Antimalware solutions is considered an asset
  • Openness to take initiative to learn about cybersecurity and information technology
  • Previous experience working in the energy industry is preferred
  • Well-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and circumstances
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at multiple levels
