Are you an Engineer-in-Training that wants exposure to all of our baseplant assets and with all of the associated cross-functional teams? As the turnaround long range analyst you will develop the turnaround (TA) budget and financial long range plan (LRP), prepare funding requests for major inspections, overhauls and turnarounds, and manage associated external partner communications and interactions.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead alignment sessions with cross functional teams (CFT) in Upgrading, Extraction, Energy  and Utilities and In Situ to develop financial long-range plan for turnarounds
  • Challenge assumptions, timelines and costs from previous plans
  • Lead feedback and alignment discussions with area cross functional teams (ACFT)
  • Update event costs within the LRP as the cost model changes
  • Develop the budget request for the following year
  • Prepare and deliver the 10 year TA financial LRP
  • Set up the TA major inspections, overhauls and turnarounds (MIOT) funding request for approval
  • Prepare and submit any changes to MIOT funding throughout the year 
  • Act as the subject matter expert of TA funding policies, which involves coaching partners about budget choices  
  • Work with finance to provide training to turnaround and CFT resources

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of experience managing capital project funding and financials
  • A Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience working with Suncor CFT’s would be considered an asset
  • Strong collaboration skills with an ability to you use multiple horizontal and vertical relationships to identify answers and get results
  • A questioning attitude that will enable you to challenge existing norms and answers as you seek to lead change and bring value
  • Someone who can identify and solve problems using a diversity of standard methods, demonstrating judgement in selecting, classifying, and analyzing data from different sources
  •  Strength in holding others accountable, with an expectation that others do the same for you
  • An ability to understand complex processes develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives, and creative process enhancements

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
