You will use your expertise to:

  • Support incident investigations through scope and planning
  • Perform high-visibility incident investigations, with the objective of determining the root cause
  • Apply industry methodologies, internal guidelines, and regulatory requirements for all aspects of investigations
  • Perform hands-on investigation tasks, such as evidence collection, collection of witness statements, and documentation review
  • Collaborate with all aspects of the business, including health and safety professionals, business leaders, and technical experts
  • Report findings of investigations in a detailed manner, providing concrete recommendations
  • Assess current performance and implement improvements to process

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 10 years of experience of root cause analysis and investigations
  • Prior experience working within governing standards of incident management
  • TapRooT, or similar root cause systems experience
  • Enablon, or similar incident management system experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Comfortability working under pressure
  • Critical and inquisitive thinking skills; you are a rational thinker, but have the ability to think outside-the-box
  • The capability to synthesize confidential details, then tactfully present findings
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Sound technical writing and presentation abilities
  • Strength utilizing Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience with fatality investigations
  • Oil and gas industry experience
  • A Health and Safety professional designation, such as CRSP, CSP, or similar
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Travel to various sites is required
