The opportunity

Our Fort McMurray team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Fort McMurray, Alberta to support the on-going operations.

We are seeking a proven leader who has knowledge and experience in encouraging and maintaining high functioning teams with operational excellence. This individual has the skills, competencies and capacity to manage the day to day of the area's operations for the liquids pipeline facilities and terminals in the Nistowaya area.

The successful incumbant will excel in providing leadership and mentorship as well as foster innovation and a continuous improvement mindset. The successful candidate will deliver operational cost effectiveness, maintenance of assets and the health and well-being of staff in a safe environment.

What you'll do

  • Provide input and assistance in the business strategy and the personnel goals and objectives for the area; lead efforts to achieve these goals
  • Manage all resources (people, financial, material and time) in order to ensure maximum efficiency in planning, forecasting and allocation
  • Develop and maintain an environment which actively enables and encourages employee innovation, continuous improvement, engagement and commitment to operational excellence
  • Provide the team with real time performance feedback, recognition and coaching as well as develop staff and complete and succession planning
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to operations and maintenance
  • Ensure quality customer service for all internal and external stakeholders and clients through understanding the business needs and the environment of our customers
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response with requirement to be on call and respond to emergency situations

Minimum qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Bachelors Degree, Diploma or Proficiency Certificate in a technical based field of study (Engineering, Commerce or equivalent)
  • Ten (10) years of related experience with eight (8) years experience of formal people leadership
  • Ten (10) years experience with Liquids pipelines and terminal operations, petroleum measurement and crude storage and management
  • Knowledge of TC Energy's business vision, practices, processes and systems
  • Proven experience in leadership of areas of health, safety, environment, change management, employee development, performance management and team building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in effective resource allocation and utilizations (budget, forecasting, re-basing, staff scheduling, supply chain management etc.)

Preferred qualifications

  • Ability to flourish in a start-up environment or initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills for all levels of organization and external stakeholders

Additional role requirements

  • Drive a motor vehicle. Following a conditional offer of employment, the company will check the motor vehicle records of any applicant when driving is an essential job function
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Work an adjusted schedule - emergency response and on-call requirements
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Travel across international borders. The candidate must be able to provide applicable travel documentation
