You will report into the mine mobile equipment reliability team, and will provide engineering support for our Shovels equipment fleet in the mine.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide technical guidance, solutions and troubleshooting support to the maintenance shop and field technicians
  • Use root cause analysis methods for asset and process failure elimination
  • Develop technical repair scopes to support the maintenance organization
  • Review and update GET performance to support improvements
  • Perform both failure analysis and incident investigations to drive learnings and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist Maintenance organization with shop tooling solutions
  • Identify bad actors within the shovels mobile equipment fleet
  • Steward cross-boundary relationships with our maintenance and operation teams
  • Review fleet key performance indicators to gauge performance and opportunities

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Up to six years of experience with Shovels equipment maintenance and reliability engineering; mentoring and coaching will be provided to new grads with limited experience
  • Experience with development of predictive and preventative maintenance strategies
  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • A zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Working knowledge of SAP, Livelink and Meridium

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
  • The shift schedule is a seven days on/ seven days off rotation; 12 hour shifts
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
