The opportunity

This is an exciting time for TC Energy, with exponential growth expected throughout our North American operations, specifically with the construction of the Costal GasLink (CGL) Pipeline Project in British Columbia (BC). The CGL Infrastructure and Logistics (I&L) team is responsible for providing support to the CGL Implementation team. As the I&L Specialist, you will play a lead role in supporting the execution of pipeline segments. This is an important position and your contributions will be critical to the implementation of the project by ensuring continuous availability of required infrastructure & logistics services safely and on time.

This role is based in Calgary, AB but will require you to travel to field locations in northern BC throughout project construction.

 

What you’ll do

  • Be the single point of contact to the Project Managers (PMs) for one to two pipeline construction work package(s) for all matters pertaining to I&L scopes and responsibilities
  • Coordinate with PMs and other members of CGL to identify requirements, establish expectations and service levels, and provide progress updates
  • Lead the development and implementation of plans for assigned scopes of work, which will include camps, offices, security, medical, foresters and timber sales
  • Work with I&L Coordinators on planning and implementation of their responsibilities to ensure delivery on priorities such as telecom, line pipe, stockpile sites, rail sidings, helicopter services, vehicles, mobile inspection, material delivery, lessons learned, etc.
  • Coordinate with contractors (prime, designated service, and other) to ensure timely and accurate reporting, develop and implement plans, monitor progress and take proactive corrective actions to ensure smooth delivery of required services
  • Provide recommendations with appropriate rationale on changes, originating from the contractors and/or from CGL for the assigned scopes
  • Monitor the spend and generate / seek approval on trends and coordinate payment of invoices
  • Keep the I&L team, PMs, and other CGL team members updated on status of various services, performance levels, issues, mitigation plans and risks, etc. by developing reports and presentations and through periodic meetings
  • Define and deliver on a personal, team and project level value delivery and success statement pertaining to this role

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Commerce, Engineering or another related field
  • Six (6) or more years of related work experience (i.e. similar position, management of small scale projects and/or role in supply chain)
  • An alternative combination of relevant education and experience may be considered

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional designation or certification
  • Believes in and demonstrates self-accountability and initiative
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at various levels of the company, within and outside the CGL team, including external stakeholders
  • Excellent communications skills, including ability to create and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Driven to meet agreed upon results and ability to proactively provide simple and practical solutions
  • Ability to learn and adapt, must be able to manage work and act as a leader as well as follow direction and processes as required
  • Believe in and contribute to developing and maintaining a cohesive and fully integrated team

About our business
Approximately 670 kilometres, the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline will safely deliver natural gas from the Western Canadian basin in northeast B.C., Dawson Creek area, to the proposed LNG Canada facility on the West Coast near Kitimat, B.C. From there, LNG Canada will prepare the natural gas for export to global markets by converting it to a liquefied state – also known as LNG.
