You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure the consistent application of Corporate Security policies, standards and requirements across all Suncor sites
  • Act as the first point of contact for Corporate Security for all matters relating to security for your given site(s) or portfolio
  • Report all security incidents and oversee an effective and timely incident response
  • Analyze and identify evolving trends and behaviours that have the potential to compromise site security and prepare reports and recommendations to address these risks
  • Work with the Operations group to determine the physical security requirements to address risk, increase productivity and lower costs
  • Coordinate the design, installation, management, maintenance, repair and sustainment of security systems
  • Oversee and provide guidance to contract guard force teams within your portfolio
  • Provide assistance and support to Emergency Response Plans, and render assistance to Emergency Operations Centers and our Global Security Operations Center

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of security experience gained in an industrial setting
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Capability to obtain a secret level security clearance
  • Superior computing skills specifically with SAP, Excel, and Microsoft Office programs
  • Sound working knowledge of security program design, risk and threat assessment, security policy development, physical security design and crisis management planning
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated, well-organized and a proven team player who exhibits a consistently positive attitude with attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently while handling multiple assignments simultaneously, establish priorities and meet schedules

Preference for:

  • Previous Oil and Gas experience
  • Post-secondary studies in criminology, police studies, risk management or safety
  • A security or related certification(s) e.g. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Working knowledge of access control, alarm systems and video technology

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way,
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • You must be prepared to travel to any operational site in the United States, Canada and internationally
