Are you a C# or .Net programmer? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to maintain, improve and ensure reliable operations of our proprietary Car Wash application that supports our Petro-Canada retail network across Canada. This is a distributed system requiring many disparate skillsets including Graphical User Interface (GUI) programming; network programming; concurrency; database design and query tuning; web application development; integration with other corporate systems; and ad-hoc reporting and analysis. 

 

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide 24/7 technical support of national Car Wash systems (host based systems built on C# and .Net framework)
  • Ensure all programming and design follows enterprise standards and policies
  • Assist in designing solutions for business demands for projects and present options through the change management process to our business partners
  • Design, develop, test and conduct implementation of demand and service requests
  • Conduct dashboard monitoring to ensure reliable operations and maximal uptime of host systems
  • Act as the main point of contact for Car Wash Dashboard (host level) related questions and issues
  • Work with various business groups related to Operations responsibilities

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of experience programming in C# and .Net
  • A post-secondary degree or technical diploma in computer science
  • Proficiency with SQL, DB2, Networking (TCP/IP), Javascript, and a functional language (Elm, Haskell, Erlang, etc.), WCF and WPF
  • Strong working knowledge of database concepts: indexing; query plans and query hints; locking; transaction isolation levels; normalization
  • Proficiency with software development practices (version control; unit testing), and performance profiling and debugging
  • Proven communication skills with the ability to communicate directly with diverse groups (business and technical) to identify needs, solve problems, collaborate on new designs and write technical documentation
  • An adaptable, self-starter approach and you are a quick learner absorbing large legacy codebases and new languages/frameworks
  • Proven analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills and good attention to detail and documentation skills

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Occasional travel to retail sites is required to implement and monitor new IT solutions
