You will be part of a strategic technology program de-risking the incorporation of alternative energy and other value adds into mature in situ assets. In this role you will define practical steps to increase value, while reducing CO2 emissions.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Progress a range of novel technology ideas through a gated technology development process
  • Combine a wide range of engineering, research, project economics, and interpersonal skills to drive projects towards success, or early termination

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in a formal co-op/internship program or engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • A strong quantitative background in problem solving using engineering, mathematics, statistics, or physics
  • Experience with creating a business case using project economics
  • Research experience including well-developed report writing and presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • A strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
  • Familiarity with geophysical, reservoir engineering or geological data/concepts
  • Collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • A strong degree of curiosity
  • A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is a 4 or 8 month work term, from September 2019 – December 2019 or September 2019 - April 2020
