Within the Upgrading Automation Team, you will gain valuable experience in process automation engineering from working closely with Engineers and Engineers-in-Training who will provide you mentorship and guidance.

 

You will use your expertise to:

  • Partner with team members to actively maintain our process control systems and supporting infrastructure
  • Prepare and communicate performance reports with recommendations
  • Actively participate in developing timely resolution of issues and requests for information
  • Develop and implement a lifecycle strategy for our control systems
  • Facilitate initiatives to drive continuous improvement of our processes
  • Build and provide commissioning and start up support for new projects

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Currently enrolled in a formal co-op program in a 3rd or 4th at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attach your transcripts with your application and indicate your work term availability

  • Motivation to pursue new challenges and possess strong communication, social and organizational skills
  • Skills in the preparation and presentation of technical documents and professional reports
  • The ability to use critical thinking skills in a fast paced environment
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Work experience industrial in an setting
  • Experience with the use of various control systems and/or related infrastructure assets.

 

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Business Area in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
  • This is a 12-month term, starting September 2019
