You will work with an experienced team of petroleum geoscientists, participating in projects on assigned geographic areas and stratigraphic intervals. This will expose you to exploration and development concepts and techniques used by geoscientists in the petroleum industry, allowing you to gain valuable work experience across our business.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Build and integrate surface and subsurface data into cross-section and mapping products to describe geographic distributions
  • Develop familiarity of project area and interval(s) of interest through searches of existing publications and reports
  • Interpret well logs, well test and/or core, or seismic information
  • Synthesize findings into summary reports, including recommendations for future work

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrollment in 3rd or 4th year Geology at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Working knowledge of Petrel, Accumap, Geostudio would be an asset
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and a strong ability to analyze data is fundamental
  • Collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will be based in Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray or Fort Hills
  • This is a 4 – 12 month work term, from September 2019 – August 2020
  • Some of these positions have been identified as safety sensitive
  • Relocation support will be provided if approved for the position, we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
