We will help you develop your professional skills and establish relationships with internal partners.  You will also explore how engineering functions either in our upstream (oil sands and in situ), downstream (refinery) operations, Fort Hills, major projects or business services operations.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Assist in the completion of engineering and material requisition work packages
  • Participate in developing solutions to technical issues
  • Understand our current operations, develop, maintain, and implement a long-term depletion plan and make forecasts, using thermal reservoir simulations
  • Develop and handle tools for tracking process data for analysis and metrics reporting
  • Build a tool for a daily review of production data
  • Prepare and present summary reports, performance metrics reports, graphical representation and presentations as required

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrollment in a formal co-op or internship program in 3rd or 4th year Mechanical Engineering at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Working knowledge of process system software, MATLAB, ASPEN Plus, 2D Drafting using AUTOCAD and HYSYS
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will be based in Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray or Fort Hills
  • This is an 8 – 12 month work term, from September 2019 – August 2020
  • Some of these positions have been identified as safety sensitive
  • Relocation support will be provided if approved for the position, we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
  • Your work schedule will be determined based on the position requirements
