Are you a Mine Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? As a member of our best in class mine engineering team, you will be required to apply a broad spectrum of mine engineering principles to support the execution of mine plans. Our mine engineers work on the development of the Millennium and North Steepbank mines, which combined, produce over 1 million tonnes per day. Our operation is innovative and ever-changing, with initiatives such as autonomous haulage and PASS tailings treatment technology leading the way into the future.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Collect, document and assess engineering data within the mine to improve efficiency
  • Provide mine plan guidance to both technical and mine operations personnel
  • Craft execution plans, incorporating sound mining principles such as productivity, geological and geotechnical risks, mining rates and equipment capabilities
  • Build mining and construction schedules that meet the needs of both internal and external partners
  • Analyze technical data in real-time and provide analysis to assist with daily/weekly plan execution
  • Record and control mine engineering-related information to generate monthly reports
  • Align with and act as a role model for corporate and work location safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Plan for the reclamation and sustainability of our operations
  • Provide technical planning for our autonomous operation

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Three years of experience in earthworks or surface mining
  • A Bachelor’s of Science or Engineering degree in Mining, Civil, Materials, Geological or Environmental
  • Eligibility for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary, integrated team environment
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions, conclusions and make appropriate recommendations

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals SAP:ENG
