Are you looking to further develop and grow your skills as a solution designer? We’re on a journey to transform our customers’ experiences at our retail and wholesale Petro-Canada sites and we’re looking for a creative and dedicated solution designer to provide guidance and direction, and substantially impact the successful delivery of our Information Technology (IT) projects for our Downstream business. You will take pride in playing a key role in managing the delivery of application and systems designs and technical interface solutions for multiple complex projects.

You will use your expertise to:

• Ensure health and safety is at the forefront of your work and comply with our guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Design application solutions and systems that will deliver a positive impact and results to the business by applying design thinking in innovative ways
• Lead Solution Design and Development teams to ensure adherence to the defined solution architecture, corporate standards, and industry best practices in the delivery of projects
• Monitor proactively solution designs for risks, issues, dependencies and collisions, and assist with any remediation activities
• Conduct continuous improvement analysis on existing technology and its ability to support the business requirements
• Document solution designs and participate in the knowledge transfer to our Operations team to support sustainment of the implemented solution
• Build positive relationships to understand business challenges and opportunities

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

• Five years of designing and planning solutions for business systems, applications and databases
• Sound experience with programming languages such as a C variant (C, C++, C#), Microsoft.Net, Java, Angular and/or Bootstrap
• Proven experience with the design, development, and integration of databases (e.g. Oracle DB, Mongo, SQL)
• Completed post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Knowledge of cloud based architecture solutions, web and mobile based applications, and interface/integration development tools
• Deep understanding and knowledge of project methodologies (agile, iterative, waterfall)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills at both a technical and business level, and you can build positive relationships with highly dispersed and dynamic teams
• Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

• Solution Design/Operations experience in retail, distribution, banking, loyalty industries

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

• You will work out of our Mississauga office, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way, with occasional travel/work in our Oakville office located at 3275 Rebecca Street
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
