Are you dispatcher looking to advance your skills? In this role, you will be responsible to use your equipment knowledge to make sound and timely decisions for break in maintenance work. You will also optimize the productive use of our assets and resources to improve overburden production while making sure there is a consistent delivery of oil sand feed to primary extraction in accordance with the daily production plan, and all policies and procedures.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety codes and work practices, standards and procedures
  • Comply with the daily mine plan including production targets, priorities and ore feed characteristics
  • Monitor trucks and shovels equipment health to ensure maximum productivity and physical availability
  • Ensure break in maintenance is managed accordingly as to not impact bitumen production
  • Assist in troubleshooting down equipment through the use of MineCare and Honeywell to assist MEM with effective maintenance and availabilities
  • Communicate and collaborate with mine operations and MEM supervisors to effectively manage break in work
  • Communicate and collaborate with production dispatchers to ensure break in work does not affect production targets
  • Follow protocols when emergencies arise to quickly and safely get emergency response on scene

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 10 years of experience in in mobile mining equipment maintenance, preference for oil sands or other open pit mining with previous dispatching experience
  • A Bachelor of Engineering in electrical or mechanical engineering, trade certification with interprovincial certification
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and an understanding of loss management techniques
  • Strong knowledge in troubleshooting P&H 4100 AC shovels, Komatsu AC drive haul trucks, Caterpillar D8, D11, 24M
  • Knowledgeable in using a Fleet Management System, preference for Modular
  • Knowledgeable in using Remote Health Monitoring System, preference for Honeywell MEM and MineCare
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledgeable in SAP
  • Strong sense of ownership, with demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple and changing priorities under tight deadlines with strong decision-making skills
  • Possess solid leadership and communication skills to interact with all functions and levels of leadership
  • Understand complex processes, and strive to develop and implement continuous improvement and creative process enhancements

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on /7 days off rotation (7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off; 12 hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
