Are you looking for a great opportunity to succeed in an ever-changing and dynamic reliability engineering role? In this role, you will report into the mine mobile equipment reliability team, and will provide mechanical engineering and technical support that will help optimize preventative maintenance strategies and drive continues improvement of the fleet.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure that Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met for asset engineering changes and performance and regulatory compliance
  • Develop equipment strategies and preventive maintenance programs
  • Conduct ongoing bad actor assessment and develop improvement action plans through close collaboration with engineering, maintenance execution and mine operations teams
  • Conduct failure, root cause, and incident investigations and develop recommendations and action plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Develop and maintain condition monitoring strategies and programs such as undercarriage wear measurements, remote monitoring and oil analysis
  • Participate in implementing reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset multi-functional teams
  • Lead technical meetings and small scale projects from conception through to implementation
  • Develop maintenance scopes of work and design small scope engineering solutions for modifications and/or repairs
  • Conduct reliability analysis to predict remaining service life and make recommendations for equipment change out or overhaul
  • Liaise with the mine equipment vendors and original equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Four years of experience in mobile mining or heavy equipment maintenance and reliability engineering
  • Experience in fleet performance assessment; experience in risk identification, quantification and ranking, business needs analysis and forecasting, and statistical and fleet analysis
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a professional engineer
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (preferably SAP) and material management systems
  • Proven knowledge in statistical tools such as Minitab and Matlab
  • Working knowledge on root cause analysis such as TapRoot, CauseLink, 8D, etc.
  • The proven ability to effectively communicate and interact with others across a multitude of business units to develop and build strong positive working relationships
  • Strong analytical skills that enable you to make decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • A highly motivated self-starter with an adaptive work style and ability to handle multiple priorities, challenging demands and function in a positive but dynamic work environment

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals SAP:ENG
