Job Overview

Reporting to the project controls lead, the analyst will provide support for all phases of the project lifecycle including project set-up, estimating, funding, performance analysis & close-out. You will be a key member of the integrated project team whose primary objective will be to constructively influence the schedule and cost outcomes for the projects on which they are working.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build purchase requests with required backup, vendor quotes, and in alignment with supply chain management standards
  • Dedicated to providing detailed reporting on funding progress, trending and forecasting (completion dates, changes in funding, concerns)
  • Deep understanding of monthly reporting on incurred cost and schedule forecast before sending for the manager’s review and approval
  • Manage the project work cost structures, and the project network and activities in SAP
  • Enter forecast into SAP by assigned deadline
  • Collect and provide details for month end journal entries to align with finance standards and timelines
  • Prepare, consolidate and analyze individual project or program reports for all stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable of and adhere to all finance policies, ensuring that spending is in line with capital and/or expense guidelines
  • Drive the closure of purchase orders, project phases and SAP tasks for the project
  • Building the long range plans and budgets to develop a full understanding of the planned spending
  • Protect the integrity of the investment decision by understanding the project scope and bring forward deviations as required

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • A degree in a related technical or business function or a diploma with 3 to 5 years related work experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in project controls, planning, scheduling or project management
  • Project management courses or certificates an asset.
  • Previous experience from working in a chemical plant, a refinery, construction of major facilities, power generation or public infrastructure is an asset.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • SAP skills and SAP visualization (Knowledge in SAP Project system an asset)
  • Primavera P6 and intermediate knowledge of work orders, planning, estimating cost (I.e. Work cost structure creation, management, and strategy)
  • Extraordinary collaboration with key partners
  • Flexibility to deal with multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Business intelligence
  • Experience with project management and construction based metrics (productivity, performance measurement, progress tracking, etc.) and their software systems.
  • Intermediate ability to translate large amounts of data and perform complex functions within Access or Excel

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
