Job Overview Reporting to the manager, mine and tailings development, you will work directly with project owners and asset teams to understand, review and document business challenges and opportunities and develop creative and strategic approaches to solving them. Key Accountabilities - Apply the asset development execution model (ADEM), which is a staged gate process, to expedite information gathering, analyze options, socialize concepts, and garner support for selected solutions through project lifecycle
- Successfully translate and implement our ADEM process throughout the business
- Define problems and opportunities and identify cost effective solutions that align to the business strategic direction
- Facilitate information gathering for developing scope for the identified solutions
- Analyze multiple options and work with the business area to screen options and ultimately complete concept selection and design
- Ensure that all partners are aligned throughout the projects
- Provide data and assumptions to our corporate economics group
- Support the completion of the long range (10 year) capital plan and annual capital budget
- Deliver stewardship to partners, supported by integrated project teams
- Obtain project partner alignment and gatekeeper decision as required
Required Qualifications Experience and Education: - Six to 10 years of experience working in the oil and gas or similar industry; specific experience in mine and tailings planning is an asset
- Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional groups
- Experience working with consulting engineering firms is an asset
- Project management experience is a huge asset
- Bachelor degree in engineering
- Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Skills and Knowledge: - Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office suite
- Deep understanding of the oil sands processes and economics, and supply chain principles
- Ability to work with diverse groups, handle conflict and have strong problem solving processes to optimize outcomes is key to success in this role
- Ability to influence and negotiate with project partners and challenge constraints and assumptions
- You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
Working Conditions - If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
