Academic Obstetrician/Gynecologist

with Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery

 

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for the position of academic Generalist Obstetrician/Gynecologist with experience and training in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery. This full-time position is located at McMaster University Medical Centre, Hamilton. The current complement of nineteen generalists offers care in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the City of Hamilton, LHINs 3 and 4 (Waterloo Wellington, Hamilton Niagara, Haldimand and Brant) covering a region with 30,000 deliveries per year.

 

The successful applicant will have in addition to obstetrical and gynecological residency training, evidence of additional advanced training in gynecological endoscopy beyond residency, such as a fellowship. The candidate will demonstrate evidence of the completion of other specialty-related academic accomplishments. Special consideration will be given to candidates with minimally invasive gynecological surgical skills including vaginal surgery and complex open gynecological and obstetrical surgery. The candidate will have commitment to the academic mission of the department and to the principles of teaching residents and students. The successful candidate is expected to have demonstrated skills in clinical education with all levels of learners and will provide leadership and training to future Obstetricians and Gynecological surgeons.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to fully participate in all of the appropriate departmental and divisional research, administrative and educational activities. Candidates must have demonstrated capabilities in research and evidence of demonstrated research productivity and/or commitment to pursue the minimum of a Masters level training in a mutually agreed discipline.

 

This is a full-time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is composed of, largely, fee-for-service activities. There is Alternate Funding Plan support for academic and educational activities. The successful candidate will participate in a departmental practice plan.
