Projected Enrolment: 35 (capped at 35)

Wage Rate* $7407: (per 3 unit course)

 

Course Description:

How do we learn about our social world? How do we know if our ideas about the world are true? How do we find answers to new and important questions about our social world? Research is a central component to understanding important issues related to the study of work and labour. In this course students will learn the basic tools and strategies necessary to become a researcher.  Students will learn what methods are necessary to answer different questions and how to design their own research projects, including how to collect and analyze data. In this course students will also learn essential critical skills to assess the research of others. This course is a useful and practical course that helps students prepare for Level IV thesis or field work.

 

Required Qualifications:

A PhD or ABD is preferred, although applicants with MAs and teaching experience (either in post-secondary institutions or in the labour movement) will be considered.  Applicants should have an interdisciplinary approach to labour issues.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement.  The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount.  If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
