We are seeking Indigenous candidates interested in training for a career as a Power Electrician.

Our Pre-Placement Training Program is a six month program designed to provide Indigenous candidates with on-the-job training and academic upgrading to meet the minimum requirements to qualify and compete for a position in an upcoming Power Electrician recruitment.

Following completion of the Pre-Placement training, successful candidates will be considered for the 4 year Power Electrician apprenticeship program which includes additional on-the-job training, trade schools and formal classes at Red River College. During your training, you will be stationed at various locations throughout the province and may require relocation to Northern Manitoba.

Qualifications:
High school graduate or mature student with at least one of the following credits: Mathematics 40S (Applied or Pre-Calculus); Physics 40S; or English 40. Equivalent academic qualifications may require validation from the Department of Education or Manitoba Labour & Immigration.
Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence (intermediate or full) or be eligible to obtain one.
Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position.
Capable of communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Have good hearing and accurate colour perception.
Be capable of working in a variety of environments, within confined spaces and at heights requiring bucket truck or ladder work.
Have basic computer skills.
Be willing to acquire an approved set of personal hand tools.
Have a mechanical aptitude to satisfy all requirements of the position.
Willing to attain the educational requirements.
Be willing to relocate to various locations within Manitoba
